I am often asked how do I improve my credit scores? You have to approach your credit from several directions if you are to see immediate results. If we help you build good healthy current credit at the same time you are dealing with any negative items on your file, the process speeds up dramatically.

This may involve establishing a healthy balance of current credit, getting rid of inaccurate files on your report, plus negotiating and paying current obligations, all at the same time.

Most credit counseling programs want to keep you in their program as long as they can so they can make more money off of your file. Our goal at HOPE for the last eight years has been to get you through our program just as quickly as possible so you can recommend someone else to us. We know if we do a good job for you, you will tell others about our services.

You will probably need help. I have had many clients who tried to do these things on their own but could not reach the credit scores they wanted by themselves. Many times clients make their credit situation even worse by trying to fix problems themselves. At HOPE we are constantly learning about new tools that will help you reach your goals in a much shorter time. If you would like to know more please call us at 704-503-3669. Our friendly staff is waiting for your call!

What personal information will I
find on my credit file?

Your credit
report can include:
-your name
-your spouse’s name
-present and past
address
-present and past employment
-your Social Security Number
-your date of birth or year of birth

Typically, this is personal information
you supply when you apply for credit.

What is considered a public
record?

Concerning credit,
bankruptcies, court judgments, and tax liens are most commonly [items] found in
public records and may appear in your credit file. Public records are open to
anyone who requests to see them.

How long can information stay on my credit
file?

Generally, information can remain in your credit file for 7 years from the date of last activity (or date
document was filed with the courts).

Can information
report longer than 7 years on my credit file?

Yes, there are some exceptions to the 7 year timeframe:

- Bankruptcy Chapters 7,11, & 12 can remain in your file for
10
 years from the date filed.

- Open charge accounts can remain in your file indefinitely (or 7 years
from the date the account is closed).

- Accounts notated “as agreed/closed” can remain
in your file for 10 years, but should not negatively affect your
credit
 score.

I am often asked, Is it best to buy a new car before or after I buy my new house?

If your goal is to refinance or purchase a home within the next
6-12 months, it’s best to
wait until after you close on your home before taking out any additional loans*.  New indebtedness will almost always cause your credit scores to drop automatically, even if you are making the payments on time.  Furthermore, the new loan may have an effect on the home loan amount for which you can qualify.  Simply put, the new loan, whether car or other, could lengthen your time frame of purchasing/refinancing your home and would likely cause you to qualify for a smaller home loan amount. So if you are considering trading in, refinancing, or buying a car…wait until the day after you close on your home loan to do so. *Additional loans include: personal loans, car loans, and other installment loans.

I always tell our clients at HOPE that the membership program fees for our education program are very reasonable. To keep costs down we do not spend any money on advertising. Our clients and our friends are our advertisement. We know when we do a good job for you, you will tell others about us.

Just today we had a new client join our program. She previously paid a credit repair company almost $2,600 in fees and her credit is still not cleared up!

You will find our fees to be very low and easy on your budget. HOPE clients typically save more in deletions and negotiations than they ever pay for membership in the HOPE education program. We have had many clients who have saved thousands of dollars.

If you would like to find out more about the wonderful services offered by HOPE, please call us at 704-503-3669. Our staff is waiting on your call!

Did you know that often it’s possible to settle out your debt for less than you actually owe? That’s right, many of your creditors may be willing to accept less than the balance owed to satisfy a past due account. This can equal big savings for you.

It is highly recommended that you use a professional debt negotiation service, like the HOPE Program, to ensure that you receive the best settlement available. People often think that it will be cheaper to pay off the negative accounts on their credit by themselves. However, the average consumer pays much more to settle an account alone than they would pay if they had professional debt negotiators working on their behalf. Members of the HOPE Program typically save far more money through the debt settlements arranged by HOPE than they pay in HOPE membership fees. That means that it is actually cheaper for them to have HOPE Program negotiators settle their collection accounts for them than it would be for them to settle the accounts on their own.

Here is an example of the savings reached for a HOPE client this very afternoon:

Type of Account: Credit Card
Amount Owed: $5,425.62
Settlement Amount (Negotiated by HOPE): $1,050
Total Savings: $4,374.62

This HOPE client saved 80% off his debt! The client can now use the additional funds, that he would have paid to his credit card company, to settle out additional collection accounts. HOPE will be there to help him complete this process as quickly and as inexpensively as possible.
