I have often been asked, “How long will a bankruptcy stay on my credit report?”
A chapter13 bankruptcy public record may stay on your report for 7 years form the date it was filed. It is possible for the items included in the bankruptcy to be deleted earlier because their original deliquency date may be older than the filing.
A chapter 7 bankruptcy public record may stay on your credit report for 10 years from the date it was filed. Individual accounts included in the bankruptcy may be deleted earlier again because they come off after 7 years from the delinquency.
